UKChatCam What we collect

What we collect, one feature at a time

Privacy policies tend to be written for lawyers. This page is the short version, sorted by the thing you are doing on the site. For the formal wording and your rights, see the Privacy Policy. For anything unclear, ask [email protected].

01 Arriving as a guest

When you first open ukchatcam.com a guest profile is created so you can match straight away. It holds an identifier, a default name and picture you can change, your language setting and technical details about your browser. Nothing else is asked of you at this point.

02 Random matching in video, voice or text

We note that a match happened, which mode you were in and when it ended, plus how many free matches you have left. The picture and sound in a call travel between you and the other person so the call can take place. Your camera and microphone only switch on after your browser asks you.

03 Profiles, follows and messages

Your profile carries whatever you add to it. Following someone, blocking someone and the list of people you have chatted with are stored on your profile. Messages you send from a profile, and in Text mode, are stored so both of you can see the conversation, and text messages may be translated automatically when you write in different languages.

04 Clubs

  • Joining: which clubs you belong to, any join requests you send and any invitations you receive.
  • Chatting: messages, photos and clips you post in a club, which other members of that club can see.
  • Creating: the club’s name, picture, description and joining setting, plus the review decision before it opens.
  • Rules: reports about a club or its members and any action taken.

05 Live streams and clips

When you watch a live stream we record that you were in the room, any comments you post and any gifts you send. Clips you watch are logged so the feed can keep offering new ones. You cannot broadcast from your own profile, so there is no stream of yours to store.

06 Free matches, the Reward Centre, coins and VIP

We keep track of free matches you receive, including those from the Reward Centre, and the coins and VIP options you buy and spend. The payment itself is handled by a payment provider, who sends us confirmation that it went through rather than your full card details.

07 Your home screen shortcut

Adding UKChatCam to your home screen stores a small amount of site data on your phone so the shortcut opens quickly. It works the same way as the website in a browser and does not give us access to anything else on your device.

08 Reports and support

If you report someone, we look at the report, the profiles involved and related activity such as recent matches, messages or club posts between them. Emails to support and any screenshots you attach are kept so we can follow up and spot repeat problems.

09 Following, blocking and your chat list

When you follow someone, we store that link so their profile stays easy to find and you can message or call them later. When you block someone, we store that too, so the block keeps working on your next visit. Your list of recent chats is kept so you can pick a conversation back up. Removing a follow or a block deletes that link from your profile.

10 Keeping the site safe

To catch spam, scams and people who keep coming back after being removed, we look at signals such as how often a profile starts matches, how many reports it receives, unusual payment patterns and the device and network details mentioned above. These checks run in the background and only lead to action when something looks wrong.

If a profile is restricted or removed, we keep a record of what happened and why, so that the decision can be reviewed if you ask us to look at it again.

11 Measuring how the site is used

We count things like which pages people open, how long matches tend to last, which mode is chosen most often and where errors happen. We look at these numbers in aggregate to decide what to fix or improve, not to follow what any one person does. Some of this measurement uses cookies or similar storage in your browser; clearing them resets it.

12 Points to bear in mind

Your personal information is not for sale, and no identity documents are needed to start chatting. What other people learn about you mostly comes from your camera frame, your profile and what you say or post, so the best privacy setting is still yours: leave your surname, address and workplace out of all of them, and think twice before posting a photo in a large club.

To see what we hold on your profile, or to have it corrected or deleted, email us with your display name. There is no charge. We may ask one question first to make sure the profile is really yours.
